Wasn't sure if I should post here or in the software section, hoping maybe experienced eclipse photographers would know best.

I know for solar corona its usually imaged with bracketing across a range of exposures. And then run through some HDR software to produce a blended image. I have done some manual HDR before just with Gimp and layers using masks, usually to replace foreground in nightscapes or even to bring out contrast and blues in the sky during daytime landscapes. But I am not sure this manual masking approach will work well for the eclipse, usually I am not good enough to fully blend/hide the transitions from one photo to another. Unless there is some kind of additional Gimp module available out there for this purpose? I do all my processing with my Ubuntu pc. Was hoping to find something FOSS if possible. I think maybe PI does HDR? I'm not totally opposed to that, but very happy with my current FOSS softwares (Siril, Darktable, Gimp) for DSO work in Linux. Any ideas?
