Hello;

I've created a GPT that's available within the ChatGPT store.  It's called 'The Astrophotography Outback.'  It includes basic guidance for acquiring lights and calibration frames.  And basic guidance for using PixInsight, among other advice.  There is a recognition that many various approaches can be used to process images using PixInsight and as such the method advised is meant as just one approach that works.

The GPT draws from documents I uploaded to it as well as its overall knowledge that already exists. It is within this documentation that I gave it my humble advice for sharing, knowing it is one way I've successfully used to create images that are satisfying to me.

Another feature that I'm hoping is really handy is all ZWO product manuals and guides have been uploaded to the GPT for reference.  It will look to this documentation first when asked about ZWO equipment usage, overall ZWO equipment advice, etc.  So it may be a good one-stop shop for quick info when you have a question.

I'm planning on uploading manuals from other companies in the future as well.  I'm trying to eventually turn it into a decent guru that may be helpful.  Note ChatGPT has a decent amount of knowledge about astrophotography overall and as such can provide general information that may also be helpful at times.  Personally I've found it very useful with regards to using PixInsight at times, and other times kind of hit and miss.  As a fairly prolific daily user of ChatGPT for most of a year (for general information as much as anything), one thing I've learned is you have to be persistent at times with regard to pushing it for the information you're looking for.  It can be kind of lazy at times.  And sometimes, like a good well-meaning smart friend, it can be wrong.  And it has been known to stray from some of what's been programmed into it when making the special GPTs.  If you run into this I'd recommend backing out of your current chat and starting a new one.

It's a beginning, and I'll be using it myself to remind me of steps to use and to answer various questions I have.  If you have any problems with it (assuming you choose to try it) please let me know.  This is a new area and am not sure how it will go. Hopefully it will operate with consistency.

It will remain a work in progress for a while but wanted to share it now in case others may find it useful like I do.  I'll keep adding information moving forward, and tweaking the information already uploaded to supplement its existing knowledge.

Thanks,

Kevin

I will be pulling the GPT offline temporarily pending approval by ZWO to utilize their manuals in this manner.  It dawned on me, even though the manuals are only being interpreted by ChatGPT for use in my customized GPT, there may be copyright issues involved.  Not really sure.  And even though this is a non-commercial endeavour I think in retrospect it’s prudent to check with them first.

Thanks,

Kevin

I've decided to leave it up after all.  I'm contacting ZWO anyway, but in the context of this use I think it's okay.  My GPT is not regurgitating the information when asked.  Rather it's incorporating it into everything else it has already learned from a ton of other sources.  If someone gives a seminar about astrophotography and talks about specific equipment and what it can do, that person (from what I understand) is not using copyrighted information that would violate a law, even if they've learned much of what they talk about from multiple sources.

When you ask this GPT about something related to ZWO product, it will utilize information gleaned from the manuals in conjunction with everything else it has learned from publicly available sources.

Interesting situation with AI for sure!
