Nice. The stars looked good before processing?First light through my AT60EDP.
I like this scope.
I guess I'll find out about pinched optics this winter

Is there an ASTRO-TECH AT60EDP Petzval in your future?

Nemo, I added spikes in post.
KGB. Really the least amount of processing I've done to an astrophoto. After stacking
I was done in 10 minutes.
I did separate stars from the nebula, worked a bit on the nebula and historically
I've worked on stars before putting them back together, but this time I did nothing to them.
I even forgot about BlurXterminator and didn't run it either.
Yeah I was happy considering almost 10 months since I've done astrophtography.

Mike from Astronomics sent out an email that AT60EDP will be discontinued due to low sales.

The Public Has Spoken, Goodbye AT60EDP
The Astro-Tech EDP Is A Mighty Mite Of A Telescope
I really wanted this to work.
Maybe it was Raptor hangover. Maybe I was just wrong about what everyone wanted. Maybe I overestimated how many people wanted a scope that you could only image with. The AT60EDP has had two years to find its footing, and frankly, it just hasn't. The scope has been great, but it just didn't seem to resonate with people like I thought it would. In the end I just don't want to hang onto something "hoping" people will see how great it is and what it is capable of. So, I am clearing out the AT60EDP at roughly cost. I will lose a bit once shipping and credit card charges are figured in, but it will put the money back to where I can put it to work on other scopes like the EDQs. So grab one while you can for $600.

Edit: Maybe people just want red anodized (which will likely fade to pink eventually)?

I snatched one up. Now I'll be hanging out in the Refractors section asking rookie questions.

That’s nice, but it’s an achromat at f/8.7 designed for visual. Not really in the same category as the AT.I sure love my 62mm Petzval, f8.7, its contrasty and pin point, everyone should try to have one. And you talk about lite gng, eh

There is a lot of contreversy, many in the know have called it an apo, I do after you look through it. But I won't get into that again. To each his own, up here in Canada they didn't sell cheap but I got this one for a great price. Its more competent than the AT.

If you are talking AP there is no use discussing, eh ! I don't get into that ......

Did you ever think of giving a good alternative as food for thought, I probably have been around as long as the rest and thats my way of working. If you don't like my experience, my posts just don't pay attention to them but I definitely think the 48P is that alternative for someone else reading this thread, as to the OP let them think for themselves, really.

And I won't even mention my SW 80mm Equinox ( fpl53 ) its way to old to suit anyone.

To the Vixen at f/8.4 and 520mm. The AT also has a 44mm image circle with a 48mm threaded back. It is designed for AP. That is all. Not looking to challenge your knowledge, I am just saying that they are built for different purposes.
The Equinox is a better match (I had the orion version for 14yrs) but at f/6.25, and being a doublet, it does have noticeable CA in images whereas the AT does not.

At the reduced price of $600 I would get one if I didn’t already have an AT60ED with reducer and flattener for widefield imaging.
Its a great deal for anyone looking for a 300mm, fast astrograph.

I am not trying to be adversarial. I am just pointing out that people looking for a fast astrograph refractor like the AT60EDP will likely not be looking at a Vixen 62SS. The AT is f/5 with a focal length of 300mm compared

The back and forth can be enjoyable and I personally don't even think in terms of adversarial, not at all. Clear Skies to you !

I’d have grabbed one but am still using two AT65EDQ’s. AT kit is built to last.

Sure, and it would also make a great, but expensive guide-scope.

Don' t get me wrong about AT scopes they are right up there, I would loved to have had and tried a couple but my understanding was they wouldn't ship to Canada new. I could have used a third party friend in Wisconsin like I did with a set of Gary Russells eyepieces but I just didn't, I was overloaded as it was, lol.

Not surprised. I have no interest in a 60mm flat field imaging scope. And if I were to want to build a small imaging rig, I would just buy a Seestar 50.

Well, I did end up buying the AT60EDP some time back but ended up selling it on. It was a really, really nice scope. I have tried to do AP as well as EAA and anything else involving a camera and telescope. It's just not me. The equipment was great. That 60EDP was so easy to set up and use. I'm just not capable of anything more complicated than an iPhone through the eyepiece.
