AAVSO is working with  the SNEWS (Supernova Early Warning System) group  ( https://snews2.org/ ) to monitor 193  POTENTIAL supernova candidates. All stars are between 0 mag and 10 mag. Many may be imaged using small automated smart telescopes and DSLRs with camera lenses.

We're looking for volunteers to "adopt" one or more stars and periodically report their magnitude(s) to the AAVSO database.

To find the list of stars, links to their charts, and if they presently have anyone following them, go to:  https://docs.google....1#gid=876428242

If you are an AAVSO member you can utilize AAVSONet systems without needing to write proposals just by signing up with your observers code on the spreadsheet. Others would use their own systems to do photometry.

Additional information on this campaign may be found at:  https://www.aavso.or...-campaign-forum

Hi Peter

Interesting but a bit confusing with all the multitude of links to information and discussions on this topic within the AAVSO’s ‘Alert’ and ‘Forum system’. When I attempt to link into the Forum that’s been set up for this campaign, all conversations appear to have ended on 12/29/23. Any suggestions on finding where the discussions have migrated since then?

thank you,

Gary

Hi Gary,

try this:  https://www.aavso.org/snews-campaign

Sorry about all the links, I was trying to put out everything I could to cut down on the number of questions people would have.

Peter

Hi Peter

That’s a great link for information - thank you.

I have not been able to find an AAVSO Forum for this program and related discussions. As I mentioned in my prior post, I’d found a Forum that seemed to be for this program, but it had no posts later than 12/29/23 so I assumed the program was migrated to another forum that I cannot find. Perhaps there just have been no posts since 12/29.

regards

Gary
