I saw in a different CN post this morning that EBL just lowered the price of their 1000Wh Lithium portable power station to $399.  It is amazing how prices continue to fall for lithium power sources as their adoption continues to grow.  I reviewed this model a little over a year ago after verifying its specs on the bench and then using it to power my astrophotography setup over 4 nights at the Nightfall star party in Nov 2022.  You can find that review here https://www.youtube....h?v=7ZldEI-GMHU   At the time it cost $499 so the price has come down by $100 making it one of the most cost effective options in the portable power station market at almost half the price of the comparable capacity Jackery model.  And while most folks are very familiar with Jackery - they make very good products, I have their 1000Wh and 500Wh models - EBL is not so well know in this market yet.  But they have been in business making batteries since the 90s, several decades longer than Jackery, but only got into the power station market 3 years ago.  They now have a range of power stations from 300Wh to over 2KWh.

Awesome price! I missed your review of this unit Curt. Checking it out now. You've been my go to source for lithium power technology. Thanks for all your legwork.

Edit: Just finished the video review. Well done. Did the power cut out at ~16:50? 🙃

Thanks for the positive feedback and pointing out my editing mistake.  The video actually was finished at 16:50 but I must have left a piece of alternate video further out in time when I was doing the editing and forgot to delete it.  I think I was able to remove all the stuff after 16:50 and Youtube is processing that now.

Anyway, I think this power station is a good one if anyone is in the market.  It also has 2  5.5 x 2.5mm DC jacks and it is easy to find 5.5 x 2.5 to 5.5 x 2.1mm adapters so these can be used to power all of our astro gear using the later DC connector.

Amazon. Look for the link in the video comments. You need to apply the $229 coupon which shows up at checkout .

How interesting!  The price went back up and is now $480 with the coupon ($709 - $229 = $480).  I took a look on Amazon back on Feb 18 when I saw someone post a link showing it was down to $399 in this CN post  https://www.cloudyni...l#entry13271631    Sure enough when I check Amazon it was $399 then.  Looks like they are reacting to a lot of orders at the $399 price point and testing the market for the ideal price point.

In my original post and video the price was $499 which I still think is an excellent price point for a 1000Wh portable power station with all of its features.

Regards,

Curtis

I agree. The small difference is not stopping me from buying but a buck is a buck. I have a Jackery 300 that cost close to this if I recall. I will definitely be getting this unit for this summers camping/Astro activities.

It's $404 on Amazon as lightning deal. $499 with $95 coupon.

Don't know about this brand. Don't like Lithium. Prefer Lifepo. Good deal though.

Seems like the price changes frequently now.

Alvin - LiFePO4 is lithium.  That is to say it is one of many lithium ion chemistries along with LiNiMnCoO2 which is what is inside the EBL.   Folks new to lithium ion batteries should read my on the forum addressing the many misunderstandings about these types of cells and batteries which you can find here https://www.cloudyni...870326-popular-

misconceptions-what-to-know-about-lithium-power-options/

But I get your point that you like batteries using LiFePO4. Both LiFePO4 and LiNiMnCoO2 have their advantages.  LiFePO4 can be found in lead acid battery replacements while LiNiMnCoO2 is what the industry primarily uses for these portable power stations because of its high energy to weight ratio.  But, most portable power station makers now have models with LiFePO4, including EBL which has them in their higher capacity models.

Regards,

Curtis

The EBL portable power stations are back on sale on Amazon.  The 1000 model is now $399 and the 500 and 330 models are also discounted.  These sales come and go so if you ever decide to buy one, just wait a little while for their sale if you can.  The link to my review of the EBL 1000 model which I did at the NightFall Star Party is in post #1.

Regards,

Curtis
