A bit of progress : after a second light that really impressed me, I'm making it usable as a tabletop dob before mounting it on the 16.5".

Thanks ! It's supposedly loaded with silver particles to react with eventual oxydants before the silver coating does, sold as "anti-tarnish cloth".

It now has a base so I have been able to test it without shaking :

Correction at the edge is better than my hyperbolic + mpcc newt, chromatism is also way better. I'm impressed by the performance of the GSO corrector.

 

Maybe it wouldn't make it for imaging though, but I have no practical knowledge of that..

This adventure continues with a twin mirror, 148mm OD, 420mm f.l., that a friend kindly diamond generated to a meniscus with a stronger curve on the back. It weighs 500g and will go in another friend's backpack wide-field AP setup.
