BTW, my friend is in Parma, near Cleveland. Despite the name on his scope (traveler), he intends to set up at home for viewing.

I am in Mentor, Oh outside of Cleveland.

I am staying put as well. Travel is more than I am willing to deal with so I am just going with whatever nature throws my way.

Forecast keeps changing for Cleveland area so I have no idea what to expect. It was looking somewhat optimistic for a while but is now on a downturn again.  Depends on which weather outlet you believe. AccuWeather shows occasional showers with some clearing in the afternoon on Monday. NWS shows overcast with rain from Sunday evening through Thursday.

My locatin is the dot. This is the cloud cover currently predicted based on the Canadian model. I am still of the mind that Lake Erie will be your best bet.

The winds are predicted to be from the south so the lake won't help with cloud dissipation.

I agree. latest show western Ohio to be better, but have a plan to assess at the last minute and head out if necessary. And yes, traffic will likely suck that day if there are better skies a hundred miles away or so. Have the car filled up and packed Sunday if you can. If security is an issue, have your gear staged for a quick loadup and exit.

I am going to wear my lucky shirt so it's a sure thing, so don't worry, Cleveland is gonna see it in all its glory.

I like your attitude towards this.

I wish we could trade today or tomorrow for Monday's weather. It's been crystal clear here in Mentor with brilliant sunshine all day. Haven't seen a cloud today. Tomorrow will be the same.  Then the clouds are forecast to begin rolling in tomorrow night. Some really bad luck. Hopefully it clears up enough by the afternoon. Local news weather all say it's going to come down to a nail biter and could go either way. Hopefully your optimism rubs off on the weather gods.

southern and eastern half is expected to be mired under partly to mostly cloudy weather and even a threat of scattered showers and thunderstorms near and along the coastal plain.

This was the forecast for Andrews SC where I was for the event. It rained all morning long and during the first part of the eclipse. Then just before the total eclipse was to begin it cleared up and my family and I saw all of it. So take heart it's gonna work out.

"Areas closer to the I-71/I-77 corridors from Cleveland through Akron will not be completely clear at the time of totality since there still looks to be some mid-level moisture, but the clouds will be thin vs opaque which should allow most of the features to be seen."

This text is directly from the report. Buckle up sunshine it's all gonna workout. Cleveland is going to see it.

Clouds have started rolling in after two days of clear skies. Will be a nail biter.

I was out riding my motorcycle through the MetroParks earlier and noticed they have put up impromptu signs reminding visitors that there is no overnight parking and the park closes at dusk. Not sure if they are concerned with out-of-town visitors trying to use the parks as an overnight auto motel.

They should relax and let people squat overnight rather than drive half asleep.

Glad Ohio cleared!

I saw in Alto Pass, IL with a passing cirrus cloud moving beyond sun for a clear sky just before totality. Partly blue skies much of day

Great day for many in the US, here-there-everywhere!

So how was it up on the lake?  All the images I have seen from up there were pretty darn good
