Hi All

Does anybody have any recommendations for panning / rotating bases of reasonable cost.

Am looking for a panning / rotating base that sits on a tripod with a 3/8" screw. A Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer GTi would then sit on top of the panning / rotating base, using a 3/8" screw.

The only one I came across was a Feisol PB 70, however, that came out many years ago and does not seem to be available any longer.

I have looked for hours and cannot find anything based on the above requirements.

Your suggestions would be most appreciated.

Thanks

I haven’t used this particular product, but have several other neewer items which are all fine.

I hope that you don’t mind,me asking, but why do you want a panning base?  The two axes on the star adventurer allow you to point an attached camera to any location, no matter how the star adventurer mount is aligned.

Thanks Andy

Yes, looked at this one but I believe the screw on top is for attaching cameras and not the mount. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Looking for one purely for faster setup when using an app.

This one appears to have a 3/8" mounting screw:

For easier setup and leveling of the tripod for my SkyTracker classic, I recently got a leveling base, which also allows re-orientation while leveling:

I got it at much lower price from the official ebay seller.

However if you need the panning function for fine adjustment of polar alignment, then the panning base would be the one to get.

I use this one with my Skyguider Pro:

I use it with an adaptor for the screw into the base of the mount.  I also think it is easier to work than the bolts on the mount.  Not as hard on the fingers in cold weather.
