We came across this scope through an acquaintance.

It is in pristine condition as you can see by the photo.  Does anyone know anything about this scope?

Also what would something like this be worth?

thank you

Beautiful classic scope seemingly in perfect condition. You should get an excellent price for it. There are Unitron experts here who can give you an accurate valuation.

I do not see a mount, However, complete that kit is worth around $1300 in todays market.  some years ago that would be worth $1600, but Covid sucked the life out of everything.  Wonder if a lot of people that were into Unitrons died off because of covid.

Sorry, but what Chas will pay doesn't necessarily give it's true value.

I always pay way more if it is something i would really want. Well worth it to have a scope to look at set up in the house. Avg price around 1100 to 1500 smacks but if extra mint and all the parts are there and no fogged glass it can be worth way more.

Ugh. I wonder if there's a box somewhere with the mount in it. Sometimes these get missed.

That mount looks mint gent. Look at the new looking big RA knob.  Looks to be around 1958 as the slo- mo knobs are not metal and looks like a threaded shaft.

Mount would do me no good with a fixed cradle.

Aha, I have more information

I have found out that this is a Unitron  142 with a equatorial mount . It is missing the cross piece for the tripod , and there is no case for the tripod or equatorial mount. It has a clamp for a motor drive but no motor drive.

What would be a value based on what you have seen?

Too bad it did not have the set  up shown in two of the photos

Block lettering vs. italic and polished setting circles clearly time frame in the sixties era.

$800 is nowhere near what it is worth. The OTA is worth around $500. The unihex about $175, eyepieces $150. Tripod $200. The mount needs some help but $650 for a good one. That's around $1500 as a package. I think Chas is just trying be funny. Take what he says with a grain of salt.

Nothing funny about it. If it is missing parts i would pay much less than a complete scope.
