I just recently received the Binotron 27 that I purchased with the help and friendly advice of a few members. I only have 2 refractors and the plan is to use it mostly with the SW 100ED. When I went to focus, I could not get anything more than the low 1.3 magnification using the power switch with the 2 Denkmeier 32 mm eyepieces. Russ of Denkmeier assured me that it would focus. I called the number and he answered.
I think we talked for over an hour. He had me try this and try that and still the same. I told him that I did replace the original SW focuser with the GSO-96 which is an even swap. Russ would not let it rest until he figured that by using the new focuser I had shortened the focal point. At least that is what I think he meant. He had me pull out the diagonal and it was better but still not great. I still ran out of back focus.
He priority mailed a Denkmeier extension without hesitation and today I was able to focus all 3 settings of the power switch and I didn't even pull the tube out which Russ said I might have to do.
So if anyone is using this combination of refractor with that GSO focuser, be aware the fix is very easy.
Honestly I can't say enough about Russ. He truly wanted to fix the issue and he did.
