Solar Eclipse calculation / simulation functionality added to Polar Scope Align and Xasteria Plus apps, in time for the April 8th eclipse!

First of all there is a new Solar Eclipse calculator - set a start date and it will calculate the next eclipse from the set location. The calculator is available even on the free version of Polar Scope Align and looks like this:

In the pro version, you can launch the simulator and use a slider to control time:

Xasteria Plus also gets a tool that shows all the future eclipses on the selected location:

Interestingly, Polar Scope Align pro reached #2 in the Utilities category of the app store on Eclipse day (I assume people scrambling last minute to find NCP). This would have been impressive, but then I noticed that at #3 there was a Flat Earth app! And that app is still at #3, it was not just a day! So, yeah, the amount of amateur astronomer iphone users seems to be eclipsed by the number of flat earthers... shocked.gif
