I purchased these in 2007, not long after 4528 was officially designated.  Desert varnished and several with nice shock veins.

Did you get those from me by any chance?

Bob King sold a batch of that material over on Astromart and I bought some of it to resell here on Cloudy Nights. That was back around Christmas of 2007 if memory serves me correctly. I still have a single NWA 4528 nugget from that batch.

I purchased several items in my collection from Bob back around that time via Astromart and directly.   These particular 4528's, and a few others, came from Kevin Kessell around that same timeframe.   Kevin actually donated a few smaller 4528s as door prizes for one of our state star parties around that time as well.

I need to look through my notes as I may have purchased some other items from you "back in the day" smile.gif

I wish we still had market prices from that time period. If I had a time machine, I'd go back and buy every piece of Moldavite I could find.

Hi,

the middle one seems to be from the Besednice Jezkov locality, which is a very small sized area, less than a small golf course.

Depending on the condition of the Besednice Jezkov Moldavites, the dealers on the web sites in the Czech Republik are asking up to $200 for 1 gram.

The prizes increase rapidly if it is a collectible sample (form, sculptation, air inclusion inside, ...).

Best,

JG

‘That’s interesting , I’ve searched Besednice Hedgehog Moldavites and they have quite a story.

Is there anyway to get this piece certified?
‘Trying to find the seller I bought them from.

All three of your pieces are fantastic, BD!   The Besednice Hedgehog is spectacular and really enjoyed searching through the web just now learning about them (Thanks JG).   You guys are truly inspiring and a danger to my bank account (I mean that kindly btw).  wink.gif

It is definitely Besednice - Jezkov, and highly likely its center, not bigger than a socker field.

There used to be a lake where those "to become tectites" have been falling, cooled down,  and never transporting and grinding the material elsewhere else. The natural acids in the water have been biting this very specific sculpture into the glass-like material of the tectites, and possibly for a longer period of time than elsewhere.

There are also other sites across the Besednice area, but these Moldavites specifically from Besednice - Jezkov are absolutely unique.

Best regards,

JG

As a general rule of thumb, lower-grade Moldavite is selling for about $25 per gram.

The sky is the limit on the higher grade pieces like the ones shown in this thread. These used to cost about $25/g when the low-grade stuff went for $1-$2 per gram back in the early aughts. I had an opportunity to buy a couple of kilos of middle-grade material for a song and passed on it. I still kick myself all these years later. LOL.

... and here is the Bent Shoulder from Chlum on the scales,

and against the overcast skies,

Bent shoulder from Chlum 38mm 17g.jpg

This has a less usual sculpture, not frequently seen in Chlum
