Interstellarum field edition was one of my first purchases when I got into visual observing a few years ago.  I’ve never regretted it and it’s been imminently useful for the same reasons Keith mentions.

I started a thread in "Book's" commenting on wanting to get a second copy Interstellarum Field so I can unbound the charts. Makes it easier at the eyepiece having a single page instead of the entire book. Looking inline this edition is going for $300 to $700!

I'm putting together a new EP case, and I am building a slip pocket in the lid to hold paper/ smaller, thin atlas's, I'm thinking of using either bonded leather or the somewhat stretchy upholstery vinyl,  the lids dimensions are 9.75" x 7,"   Looking for recommendations on a small paperback Atlas that will fit in the lid and hopefully with the plasticized pages like the old fishing license that game and fish used to use before they went cheap paper.

So far I've only found the S&T Pocket Sky Atlas in paperback, it seems to be about the right size ( 9"x6") ...anyone know of any others that fit those spec's?

Orion DeepMap 600

Interstellarum Deep Sky Atlas: Field Edition  This is larger, I believe, but I couldn't find the dimensions.

Your requirements exclude most star atlases ever in print.

Probably the Pocket Sky Atlas is the best in that size.

The thing about the Pocket Atlas I really disliked was the fact that it missed so many incredible objects visible in small telescopes. Huge oversight in my opinion.

I know how you feel, I get disappointed every time I try to use the fold-out sky charts in S&T and Astronomy,  there is basically nothing interesting printed on them.
