Hello  ! i want to know what focuser cloudynitghs recomend for me: i am beetween ZWO and QHY focuser  ... i dont use Asiair, i use NINA with remote control using a minipc. I want some advice , cuz sometimes i dont get perfect focus manually or, in the nitgh, i lose focus, thanks!
The focuser will be for my svbony503 102ED

ZWO won't allow manual focusing.

 

QHY will allow manual focusing.

I have used 2 ZWO focusers and both versions had backlash that needed to be corrected- the generated v-curves used in auto focusing were a bit hit & miss. I have no experience with the QHY.

 

The focusers I currently use are the Pegasus brands. They are really fantastic. No perceivable backlash and the v-curves are really consistent. One of the best features is the application software called Unity which puts all the Pegasus equipment into one easily managed interface as well as installing all the required software drivers for Pegasus equipment at the time of installation. I would seriously consider the Pegasus offerings- beautifully engineered & a really professional software solution that puts everything easily to hand.

I've had a Pegasus focuser in remote use, and it's been flawless. Very granular step size, and strong motor.

Another option is the Prima Luce Labs Sesto Senso2 focuser.  This one allows manual focusing when it isn't powered up.  I have two of these, and generally they are quick and accurate, far better than the ZWO, although I must say that the software that comes with them does act up on occasion.

I also use a Pegasus. No issues after a couple of years.

I have a Pegasus and it's been reliable and accurate.  I don't feel the need to upgrade.

In order of preference:

The ZWOs have been plagued by backlash, play and a general inexactness.

The Sesto Senso 2 is good if you can put it onto the coarse focusing knob - many fine focusers tend to slip.

My Lakeside Astro has been reliable and exact for 4 years - not as sexy-looking but not a second-rate choice in any way. Compatible kits for almost all focusers. 

My Pegasus has been reliable and good enough for f/3.2 for 3 years now. I like the many couplers.

The FT/Optec FocusLynx ones are awesome if they fit your focuser, with the clutch allowing manual or exact automatic focus.

The PLL Esatto is amazing.
