My very reliable and quite the scope, a Celestron Ultima 8 with the tuning-fork style mounting onto it's tripod, blew up on me.   I was unable to use the scope for about 6 months, decided to get it out and give the ol' girl a good check up and clean her.  I checked the batteries then plugged her into her charger.  A few seconds later I saw a wisp of smoke coming from the internal board.  I powered her down then began a search for anyone that might have a clue how to diagnose and repair the electronics.   I had had the old girl re-worked by Celestron in their shop in Torrence CA after a huge gust of wind blew the scope and tripod into the desert sand one night.  I called them to see if they might be able to either fix the electronics or send a schematic.  The kid on the other end of that call told me there was no one around there that would have a clue where to even start such a repair any more.  Since then I have talked to several stores and hobbyists that might have an idea - all have said I need to find a schematic and they would give it a try.   Anyone out there have a schematic for an Celestron Ultima 8 main drive control unit?   Pm me please.

I have the same Ultima 8, but the original included manual lacks any schematics. I found these in a search, not sure if they are strictly applicable.

Thanks Vanguard!  I will take this to my electronics guy and see if he will give it a try!
