Hi all, I have a glass solar filter that came with my Orion 10 inch Dobsonian I bought 2 years ago in almost-mint condition. It's the type that screws on the end of the optical tube. I don't know exactly when it was made, probably 10 years old. I was trying to make sure these don't expire to use in the upcoming eclipse. I've read as long as there's no peeling or pinholes it should be fine, right?

Thanks in advance. Happy observing.

As long as there are no scratches, pinholes or peeling you should be good.

Yea, just hold it up to the Sun and if no bright spots, then it's good.

Thanks guys. If there's pinholes am I able to patch them? I heard I can use nail polish or black marker to cover them from the inside
