Hey all,

Back in 2017, my then-girlfriend and I embarked on a memorable trip across the country to witness the total solar eclipse in Paducah, KY. Both of us shared a deep passion for astronomy, so needless to say, we were thrilled for the experience! We set up camp outside of town along the shores of the Ohio River and eagerly awaited.

After totality passed, I seized the moment and dropped to one knee, asking the love of my life to marry me. To my joy and relief, she said yes!

Here comes the slight bummer—prior to the eclipse, I had approached some fellow campers who shared our space that day, and asked them to take a few photos / video of the proposal. Graciously, they agreed, and I remember that they took several snapshots and recordings. We planned to exchange these precious mementos over email later. However, despite our best efforts, we never managed to establish that communication, leaving us without any visual documentation of the magical moment.

It's a bit of a long shot, but if by some stroke of luck you or someone you know happened to capture images of an engagement in Paducah, KY, back in 2017, I would be eternally grateful to connect with you!

Thank you all for reading and for any assistance you can provide.

Warm regards,

Alex

I didn’t want any pictures, I wanted it to be a private event, the only person who knew was my future father in law.

Wow, what a story. With all the eclipse mania right now, you might have time to contact Paducah’s news media—maybe they can put your story out on the local news there?

I truly hope you are able to get reconnected with the folks who took your picture that day.

Edit: BTW are you and your now-wife coming back to Paducah for this one?!
