That was my favorite part observing 96%. Just as it was close to the max there were a couple of well placed proms that just stuck out from the darkness below the tips of the remaining crescent of the sun. Was hoping someone would have captured that that wasn’t at totality.

Just past max coverage (95%) here in Detroit you can see the tip of the triangular prominence appear (3:14 PM), then more revealed as the moon moved, until it became 'attached' in the last shot (enlargement in upper right) I believe there is also a prom piece at the lower left corner of the crescent in the 3:14 image if you look carefully.

 

All snapshots taken with a PST and Canon T7 DSLR.

Nice job Dan.  Here are a couple more of the prominences.  The V-shaped prominence was mostly blocked by the moon in the early part of totality and showed well at the end.  This was done with the Seestar and enlarged 2x.

What's remarkable with these pictures is capturing prominences in white light.  

 

Folks with h-alpha see them all the time.

 

The only point of a reminder like this is that if one loves seeing prominences, one need not wait twenty or thirty years for the next total eclipse.

 

Now the corona, a different matter....

My shot of the prominences near C3. Taken with an old Meade LX200 10" scope with a 6.3 focal reducer, and a Canon 70D DSLR camera. This and other photos show the sometimes fortunate view of eclipses with a long focal length scope.

here's a couple more - I ran these images through Gigapixel AI to get a better view of the prominences; turns out this helped to clean up parts of the image as well.

Here are a few prominence images I captured.  The first was taken just before C3 contact.  The second is an animated GIFs generated from 4 images taken over the period of totality with the last frame immediately before the C3 contact.  More info at: https://astrob.in/xydcbd/0/

The beginning and end of totality, taken from Gatesville, TX with my Takahashi FSQ106-ED and a Pentax K3III and my Sigma 50-500mm lens on a Pentax K5II.

 

We were lucky, as the afternoon progressed, more and more clouds came in and them just during totality, there was a break in the clouds and that is the Diamond Ring photo with my Sigma Lens.  Towards the end of totality, the break in the clouds was ending and I shot the Baily's Beads with my Takahashi.
