Hi All,

I'm having a dilly of a time removing these gradient circles from my composite image.

This is from my Canon 700D (T5i) DSLR on a SolarQuest tracking mount.

The photo is a composite of tracked 1/1000s, 1/500s, 1/250s, 1/125s, 1/30s, 1/8s, 1/2s

ISO 100

The moon is from a 2second exposure (I'm still working on it).

I took these in Onyx, Arkansas over about a 3-minute period. Clear, blue skies.

The problem with Photoshop stacking is that it brings in all the halos from each exposure.

I'd like to be able to remove the gradient without sacrificing corona streamer detail.

I've tried a number of different ways in Photoshop and Pixinsight with no luck.

Any thoughts or suggestions? I don't mind re-stacking if I need to modify each exposure to remove it.

Thanks.

Great image, not sure how you might remove those rings but don’t feel they are too distracting.

Even with the gradients, it's a gorgeous image!

"The problem with Photoshop stacking"

Are you creating a smart object then using 'mean' stacking mode?

Are you then using the camera raw filter to readjust various settings?

Another processing option: While I'm having trouble getting the last steps of this process worked out (let me know if you figure it out), this processing method using a Gaussian blur seems to remove more of the gradient than the radial blur methods. A bit of a noisier result though.

I think there are ways to remove brightness gradients by creating backgrounds with similar brightness gradients and then doing a subtract, but I'm not privy to how to actually go about that.
