We purchased a new SeeStar  at the end of January and it really worked perfectly.  No complaints with it. However, the last firmware update seemed to have caused issues with the camera. It seems to go exactly where you want it to, but the pictures are trash - grids, lines, plaids. I contacted High Point Scientific because that is where we purchased it and they advised us to delete the app and reinstall it. Well, that didnt work, and their suggestion now is to contact ZWO because they cant do anything. But I was wondering if anyone else had experience this, and if so, was there a way to resolve it?

Do you have a separate device you can connect to the S50?  I would try another device like a compatible tablet and see if it produces the same issues.  If it does you need to tell ZWO it's an internal problem with the S50 rather than an app issue.  If it doesn't occur with the different device then the problem is the app in your phone.  Which phone are you using?

I saw something very similar, once. It was a white blur instead of red. A restart of the Seestar fixed it. It hasn't happened again.

Thanks for posting this, Valynda. I had much the same experience last night, this after doing the firmware upgrade right after I turned on the unit. I clicked on Lunar, then Go to Moon (I mean how hard can THAT be to find?). First off, it took a full 3 or 4 minutes to get there, and the movement was so slow that it was almost undetectable). And when it DID arrive, all I had on the screen was a 1.5” high edge to edge fuzzy yellow gray mess. I did a calibration, tied again. And again. Same results.

I also tried M44 and got nothing, only Try Again.

Before last night, my SeaStar had performed flawlessly. Not even any kind of minor issue.

I hope that someone figures this out.

Doug

I wasn't aware of any new firmware updates. I took a photo of the moon and the Leo triple one day before you and my unit performed flawlessly.

I'm using V 1.17 on my Galaxy S21 without issue.

Try my suggestion of a different device and see if there are issues.

It's not a firmware update issue. What you can try?

Reloading the app.

Resetting your telescope (remember the reset button).
