Hey all,

Wanted to share some photographs I captured of the eclipse here in Dayton Ohio. After talking with my professor, he mentioned that I should post them on the forum here. These photographs were captured on a 8" Schmidt-Newt f/4 telescope with a Sony A7 VI mirrorless camera attached via t-ring adapter. This is my first time capturing an eclipse and astrophotography in general. Critiques and suggestions are welcome. To capture these photos, I did 9-stop bracketing during the 2 minutes and 36 seconds of totality and ended up with ~300 photos. Attached are the best ones. One thing I do want to explore is the possibility of creating some HDR photos from the bracketing. Any suggestions on where to go from here? Thank you!

Mike

Manually align the brackets then use hdr software with auto-align disabled.

Seems like none of them understand how to do control points with eclipses.

Starry_Spruce shared some info in the "Removing Eclipse Gradient" thread.

You can also go to youtube and put "solar eclipse" and "Russell Preston Brown" and/or "Nico Carver" (aka Nebula Photos) into the search terms and you'll be able to find some videos on hdr processing.
