Messier 3 was apparently the first thing discovered by Charles Messier in 1764. He believed it to be a starless nebula. 20 years later it was properly identified by William Herschel. Located about 30,000 light years away in Canes Venatici, it contains some 500,000 stars as well as more variable stars than an other known cluster of stars. Pretty cool stuff if you ask mesmile.gif

Anyhow for the image, I used my Orion 8" F4 Astrograph with my ASI174MC-Cool with a Baader MPCC. MK.3. 797x15s exposures stacked in DSS and processed with Siril and Photoshop CS4. Thanks for looking and clear skies y'all.

Nice image of this globular cluster. I don't know if I can photograph M3 from where I live.
