Sell it. Why have it sitting around taking up space mace.

Everyone has different life circumstances and goals for collecting/viewing.

Collecting and Observing are two distinct, intertwined things lol.gif  for many of us.  My collection grows...what can you do when it's cloudy ALL the time...

I know I reached my max when I have trouble listing what I have.

When I moved into a new home, I decided to finish the third floor strictly for my telescope and binocular collection.  Which reminds me, I have way more binoculars to sell than telescopes but they take up way less room so it was easier to add more cool.gif .

Why sell when you moved into a house where the entire 3rd floor is devoted to your collection? Unless your collection now exceeds the capacity of the third floor. When I downsized and sold off most everything, it was because I was moving to a much smaller space rather than a bigger one. My condo is only 1440 sq. ft., while my previous house was twice that size with a deck more than four times bigger than my condo's balcony, and beyond that, a back yard.

I just can't deal with clutter.  Stuff i don't use goes. Once i get the house back to normal lots is going out. May do a super fire sale buyer takes all for 6k.  Already tons of stuff that got flooded got thrown out.

That is my prob no room since i am under 900 sq ft.  The scope room adds 450 more feet. It leaks every time it rains and since it never rains much i can get away with keeping stuff out there.  Gotta do a new roof next year.

cardboard walls do not meet code I suspect.  The place is a fire trap because of that.  That is why you got to replace is with drywall.

I like to experiment and usually replace several modern models a year. However, it is different with classics. I do not treat them utilitarian. Almost every one of my classics required a struggle (I buy them mainly abroad, and people are reluctant to pack and send such items), renovation, work, time - now I have a personal relationship with them and simply enjoy their company at home. I look at the Royal Astro R-74 standing in the corner of the room next to the TV and I invariably see an object that emanates beauty and nobility. I do not even have to take it outside and point it at the sky to draw joy and a kind of energy from its presence. I would not be able to reduce it to a practical observational function and consider replacing it with "something better".

And so it is with all the dozen or so telescopes that I have crammed everywhere I could throughout the house. Of course, our hobby is troublesome, because it requires space and requires a certain understanding and tolerance from household members. But I love to glance over the white tubes when I go to the kitchen, I even love to dust and clean them!

And that kind of uncertainty in the eyes of guests when they first enter the house, encounter a forest of tripods and are not sure if everything is ok with me... Priceless! :-)

Actually if I factor in the large scopes and large mounts in the garage storage, I have exceeded the capacity.  They are too heavy to carry up to the 3rd floor anyway.  I'm not carrying my C14 and AP900 mount/pedestal up there.

I'd also like the 3rd floor to be a bit more open for other things.  So we will see how much needs to go.

I started playing acoustic guitar little over a year ago.  Now I need to make room for my guitars.  True to what you'd expect from many classic scope buyers, I've developed some luthier skills to set up my own guitars too and bought the relevant tools, gauges, etc.  I don't play well but getting better every day all relative to where I was a year ago, enjoying the journey and experience.

Freeing up extra space is very freeing! We tend to accumulate. I think it’s primal- throw it to the back of the cave. It’s an instinct that’s hard to overcome but it’s very worthwhile to overcome it. Part of it is nipping it in the bud, and not buying stuff we don’t really need and probably won’t use.

Sorry but, this is what came to mind when you started in with the guitars:

County forced me to fix my house or they would take it away.  I had no plans to fix anything and could have dwelled in a house with cardboard walls until death.  I gots the drywall slapped up and base boards on or at least 30% of them.  Gonna be a good 8K for all this crap and at least i saved a lot doing it all myself. Plan to be done by the end of the month a inspector gadget will check everything.  Gotta get back to painting now. Once done all my stuff will be packed away until Sept when Jup comes back up.  I never use a scope when the planets are gone.
