Celestron Aluminum Dew Shield Sag says it all. I have ratcheted down the screws as tight as I can and the clips just seem to keep slipping out to the loosest spot. Retightening them works for a while but then they slip out again. Anyone else face this problem and come up with any permanent solutions.

Fully tightened is my good fit position so I am thinking Gorilla glue on the clip holder (not the dew shield to the scope as I do need to remove it occasionally) <EDIT, may be my only possible solution...

I see Astrozap uses nylon thumbscrews, and you could easily modify your dew shield to use them.

The dewshield on my older Meade had 3 nylon screws and held on quite well.

I ended up replacing the dew shield with black stiff foam, rolled around and glued together.

Its crinkle finish was painted flat black internally.

The foam:

--was lighter and affected balance less.

--insulated the corrector plate cell, slowing its cooling (it was more effective at preventing dew)

--did not sag when installed.

FYI I already have the flexible dew shield however I have my reasons for preferring the solid dew shield (better protection when I am in the HyperStar light train).

For now I have the screws ratcheted down as tight as I can get them and will Gorilla glue them if they loosen up again.

Gaffer's tape.

In a similar vein: when I had a C11 and was mobile 100% of the time, I used three pieces of duct tape to secure my Kendric flexible dew shield to my scope.  Even though duct tape adhesive is pretty gooey I hardly ever had a problem with it; I guess because the tape was only on my scope for a few hours.

Gaffer's tape won't leave a residue.
