A reader alerted me today to the fact that a scammer has posted a fake Kindle edition of my book, The Deep-sky Imaging Primer, on Amazon. The scammer pasted together a few sample pages of the first edition with the cover from the third edition and put it up for sale. I've filed a copyright infringement complaint with Amazon, but the fact that it is the #1 book in the astrophotography category right now means that some people have been taken while I wait for resolution from Amazon.

 

To be clear, the print editions on Amazon are fine, and I sell pdf editions directly from my website if you want a paperless version, but there is no legit Kindle edition of any of my books. (Kindle messes up the formatting too much.)

Yup, I see it's still up. Interesting that it's "free" via Kindle Unlimited. I've seen a bunch of Kindle books recently which were AI generated gibberish as well.

I don't know what's appropriate here. I clicked 'Like This' just to let the OP know I read the notice. Then I unliked it because 'liking' a notice about scammers seemed inappropriate. So, thanks for the heads-up gatsbyiv, and I hope you get justice.

I bought  your book, in 2022 from Amazon, in fact I recommend it to all the newbies.
It’s really that good.

I had no idea that Amazon had it in kindle format.  64 pages, oh Lord….

Kindle format has many obvious and intentional errors in the historical and religious books category, especially in the latter one.

 

I hope that unscrupulous vendor is banned.  You should get your money back plus some.

To their credit, Amazon is taking that book down (takes 2-3 days, they tell me), but I have a feeling that this will be like a game of whack-a-mole for authors going forward.

 

I hope they refund anyone who purchased it, too.
