I like the way the Dwarflab site has a countdown clock for the great D3 reveal - just under 8 hours when I looked a few moments ago.

$449 early bird special for the next couple of days. A better price than I anticipated

Yup. Just ordered one. I really like my Dwarf 2 so I'm excited to try this new version.

I couldn't resist the early-bird price, discounts (for Dwarf2 owners), and free shipment resulting (in my case) in only $399.
I've been to fancy restaurants and paid almost that much for the extended family.
The next time my wife wants to take everybody out to a fancy restaurant, I will just suggest staying home and ordering pizza!

discounts (for Dwarf2 owners)
I cannot find those discounts for DII owners... is there a code anywhere?

I couldn't resist either. Looks like fun. I have let some friends borrow my Seestar. I'll probably let them keep it after I get the Dwarf 3.

To be honest you will probably keep it… fov matters depending on objectives… most likely you will find d3 a great companion scope but not a replacement

I got my discount code sent to me via email by Dwarf LAB.
My email had the following subject line:
"Save $50 on DWARF 3 Preorder - Only $449! "
I don't know if it is a common discount code or unique codes for each Dwarf2 owner.

I received that same email but it did not contain the discount code for previous DWARF 2 owners to get an additional $50 off. Just the same two day early bird offer to purchase for $449 that is available for all.

for those who previously ordered the DII, do you recall the import fees/taxes to the US?

Nah. I've already become bored with the Seestar. It's a fun little device, but I want more. I have taken the Seestar to the South Clubhouse to show people the sun, moon, and DSO's using an iPad connected to a 32" TV. I'll do the same with the D3. While I have taken my bigger rigs to the South Clubhouse these tiny smart scopes are much more efficient.

I had none… but that does not mean you can’t… generally if a product is below a certain value they let it slide…. But your state or customs can come after you at anytime, I got hit importing some laser pointers one time, but import stuff from China all the time and don’t get charged anything

It is the reason that Vaonis products are much more appealing , astrophotography requires a creative process to keep ftom being bored. The ability to determine the target orientation and field of view is a big part of that. It was very smart for dwarf labs to incorporate mosaics… we will see how well they have done with it, I expect Seestar to do it this summer since they will be the only robot that can’t

Thanks. I asked since their FAQ indicated : Do I need to pay import and customs fees in addition to the price? Yes. For USA/EU/UK orders, these taxes will be charged before shipping
Hmmmm...clock is tickin'

Mosaic would be fine for larger DSOs, such as America and Pelican, or Heart and Soul, etc.
Posted 30 May 2024 - 04:13 PM
It’s appealing simply because it gives the user more capability, never a bad thing to give the consumer more choice, lots of beautiful images can be created, lots of well known targets are close to each other but beyond even covalens
Dwarf doesn't really need mosaics since its FOV is about three times that of a SeeStar. However, that's a double-edged sword.
That's why I'll keep mine and use a Dwarf as a companion. Once the SeeStar Pro is released, I'll most likely donate my S50 to someone else.

first 1000 get a special surprise.
Those who bought the early bird, did you get any indication whether you were one of the 1000?
