I am almost ready to pull the trigger on a Binotron. I tried using my ZWO ADC with my Celestron binoviewer and was impressed by the improvement. I'm just not sure how an ADC could be integrated into the Denkmeier system.

Anyone tried the Sunobserver eADC – Electronic Atmospheric Dispersion Corrector from Hutech?

As well as the expense, which is out of reach for 99% of us, it seems extremely heavy and one would need to upgrade focuser, and probably the mount too!

??  You mean the weight of the eADC?  It's minimal, less than 1/3 the weight of my binoviewers (Mark V):

There is some limitation in the telescope aperture with the ADC?

Worht with one Mak 127/1500?

I like the planets observation.

Thanks.

Paul, yes, different ADCs have different sized prisms.  All should be good enough for planets though.  What ADC are you looking at in particular?

Roberto,

Sorry, I meant that the ADC could work well with a Maksutov 127 or would I need a larger aperture telescope?
As for the model, I still need time to inform myself and read more about the subject.
Thank you

Paul

That Mak will benefit from using an ADC on planets. I have mine permanently installed and use it for those and my double star observations.

Next, here is binoviewer setup I tried:

Takahashi TPL 12.5mm eyepieces - APO binoviewer - T2 prism diagonal - Svbony ADC - directly screwed APM 2.7x ED barlow lenscell - 1.25" to 2" adapter - telescope.

Denis,

Is a Baader GlasPath Corrector still used in front of the prism diagonal in a ADC optical train?  Does the prism still benefit from a GlasPath Corrector with an ADC in front?

Hi Peter,

when using mentioned setup, while APO binoviewer is used, no need for GPC.

Kind regards,
Denis

I ran a bunch of experiments with my AP254 (F14.5), Mark IV Binoviewer, AP mirror diagonal, 2X Powermate, Prism Diagonal, Glass Path... . The results were pretty clear that the best views were no prism diagonal/no glass path.

Regardless of configuration when the prism diagonal was used the glass path helped.

So I use my ADC with no diagonal or glass path when objects are low enough to go straight thru. If I need a diagonal then objects are generally high enough I don't need the ADC so just go with a mirror diagonal or the prism with the glass path.

You can save your neck muscles and get a Baader BBHS mirror diagonal, should be much better.

I have a ZWO ADC and it works pretty well with EP's on a newtonian. I pulled it apart and blackened the insides as I do with all ZWO cameras and tubes, the anodized black is silver in infrared as though there is no coating at all. The matte surface is the only thing diffusing ir light, adding a layer of flat black acrylic paint is my usual approach. I also have some thin adhesive black velvet for more expensive parts. I use a circle cutting razor blade and a square to get tight fitting diameter and circumference cuts.  It makes a big difference in high contrast settings, I would imagine daytime viewing would be the most obvious. The moon gives much better contrast once the adc is blacked out, its good to test on a crescent moon and view the partially illuminated dark portion against the bright crescent. The wash out is more controlled.

Has anyone managed to acquire a Pierro-Astro Mark III ADC at all?

I have one - bought it perhaps 6 or 7 years back.

Here's the web page. You  may need to translate to English then shoot them an email.

Of course, the big red sign at the top says "Unavailable" ... APM says they will be available in mid-May.

Yes, I bought one recently - second hand - from France.  It works well and is nicely made.  Have not tested it on Venus yet as weather has been bad.  I do prefer my eADC now though so it may become available again.

Ah that is my next question what are the pro’s and cons of each?

I had one since February 2022, bought from astromarket.org (Nimax). It was ordered 4 months prior.

I found it too stiff to use/adjust while observing at high magnifications, and went for a Gutekunst instead.
