There would have be no remnant, and even if there was it would have landed in the Atlantic.

 

No remnant?  Some seem to be taking the comment of it being a cometary fragment (which isn't necessarily the same as a fragment of a comet, btw, and in fact a great number of meteors and fireballs are cometary fragments and NOT asteroidal or meteorite producers) as media hype.

 

In point of actual FACT the geocentric entry velocity has now been noted as being 40 km/s.

 

Now, if you don't know what that means it means that the orbit is very much inclined, although none has been published yet, but more inclined by far than the vast majority of asteroids, and NEAs.

 

So why it has been bunged in spacerocks I dunno.  And I never will.
