Has anyone compiled a list of eyepieces which are compatible with the televue split ring adapter for afocal use? I have a 26 mm Mead plossl that fits perfectly with the eye cup removed, and I'm sure there must be many other eyepieces which are similar.

I have the TV 55 and 67 mm and this meade 26 mm, but would love something in the 13-18 and 35-40mm range. Panoptics and naglers are not in the budget currently, unfortunately, but I'm saving up and watching the classifieds.

Any suggestions for something cheaper to use in the meantime? Is a TV Plossl my best bet?

Used Radians could work for you.

It works on a 40mm plossl so that would cover you in that range. I’m sure it also works on the 41 Panoptic but that’s a big cost difference. Depending on what eyepiece you get in the 13-18mm range, you could always find out if there are threads under the eyecup and get a direct connect adapter. I had one made by Raf Camera for attaching my monocular to the APM XWA/Stellarvue Optimus line once I found out the thread size.

There’s also an RAF Camera adaptor that attaches PVS-14 to the Baader zoom - a useful range of powers for night vision in darker skies.

At least in the televue lineup I know the 32mm and 40mm plossls work.

I ordered a custom adapter from RAFCamera awhile ago to thread onto my Meade 5000 PWA eyepieces. I'm hoping it will arrive sometime in July and will let everyone know if it works

FYI and as it was said above, it works with 40 and 32 mm TV plossls.

For me, the Raf Camera adapter works with the Pentax 40 (and other eyepieces I don't have, for example the Baader Zoom that I will probably buy), the TNV-14 works with the Delos (17.3 and 12), with Ethos 21 and 13 and with the ES 9 mm.

In may case, the Paragon 30 mm and the ES 6.7 82° were left out. Of these the 30 mm would have been very useful. In fact I used it by holding the PVS-14 by hand in front of the eyepiece. I thought several times how to connect them but the solutions I could think of were all complicated.

Until I got the inspiration: a ring that on one side fits inside the TNV-14 (having the same profile as the Televue with removed eyecup) and, on the other side, clamping on the Paragon (eyecup removed). The ring has a radial cut, so that as you tighten the TNV-14, the ring tightens around the eyepiece. Simple and works well. The ring is 3D printed.

One can easily make a similar ring for other eyepieces.

I ended up designing a threaded coupler for my Meade PWA series eyepieces, and RAFCamera machined it to spec.  It has the same raised lip as the Televue eyepieces and attaches to the PVS14 adapter.  Someday I might get it anodized, but it seems to work OK for now.

For any eyepieces which have threads under the eyecup this is what I would recommend
