Hi,

 

I think I found a nice solution to model/analyse the tilt of Saturn's Ring(s). The "morsel" (spreadsheet) I created, calculates the tilt for a specific date, but also for 10 dates before and 10 dates after this reference date. The interval between each date is taken as an input.

 

As a result, one clearly sees the sinusodial shape of the tilt across time.

If you're putting these together yourself it's quite an accomplishment.

But I hope you're aware that a lot of planetarium software which a lot of us have already does this? I guess it doesn't always put it in the same form. In my software I would have to advance a year at a time to see how the tilt changes I wouldn't get a nice graph like you have there. Greg N

Thanks. Yes, I am not claiming to do a better job then existing planetarium software, but:

- it is fun to me to find/explore/implementing the involved equations myself;

- sometimes, it is even possible adding a new perspective, like plotting tilt changes over a selectable period of time.
