All,

I'm wondering if the 10Micron mounts with older QCI electronic are worth acquiring as used.

I know they're still "serviceable" in case of problems but I still have doubts about drivers compatibility with new sw platforms, connectivity issues, hw reliability over the years...

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Marco

Hi Marco,

I've been using a GM2000QCI for more than 10 years at a remote place. No problems with sw or hw.

Even without encoders it was not an issue at the remote observatory: those rare occasions when the pointing was "lost" (long blackout typically), simply asking the observatory manager to put the mount manually at home position cured the problem.

Lately the original power adapter died and was replaced, but the mount is definitely reliable.

Hope this helps,

Antonio
