I have come in contact with a moroccan meteorite dealer who imports allot of meteorites from morocco and sell them world wide. And i have one that i possible  want to buy but would like  to know if anyone knows what it is. And P.S forget about the junk i posted in the past, i am done with that period.

Are there any ratings on Google or elsewhere for this dealer? Is he a member of one of the legitimate meteorite organizations? It probably would cost 4 figures or more just for shipping something that large and heavy.

he is international known, but has so many pieces that he can't indentify all of  them. by the way he lives in the netherlands so no shipping cost.

It's the terrestrial type. No serious trader will ever try to convince you with a magnet that their rock is a meteorite.

Since you are determined to buy and are looking for a Moroccan supplier, I recommend Said Yousfi.

WOW just because there  are magnet stuck to it it is in your opinion not a meteorite. Well that is very surprizing because how many time do i get the message on the forum is it magnetic, if not it is not a meteorite????And what about the famous meteorite men who always test  their finds with a magnet. I agree it is not a proffesional way to present a possible meteorite also acording topherspin who laughs about somethin like that, because it looks amaturistic. Well if i buy it will cutt of a end piece  and the we will see.

Actually, Topher's videos are probably an excellent place to learn about real meteorites, and he sells real meteorites.  Here's his shop and a few more recommendations:

The answers you are given are based on the evidence you bring. The evidence you bring is either not valid or is not conclusive, therefore we cannot tell you that your pieces are meteorites if the evidence is not solid. Remember that you yourself have ended up recognizing that many specimens that you were sure were meteorites turned out not to be (just as we told you). There are many groups you can go to where you will find a lot of people who will agree with you and tell you that your pieces are meteorites. But what do you really want? Do you want information or do you want validation?

There are a lot of people displaying terrestrial rocks in their home as if they were meteorites. And they are not. But they are happy because someone told them that they were. I think at the end of the day, what they want is not a meteorite, what they want is to believe they have one. If they believe they have a meteorite and other people tell them the same thing, that's enough for them.

You should ask yourself if you are one of those people.

Do you want a meteorite or do you want others to tell you that you have a meteorite?

Basic Guidelines for Meteorite Identification

Here are some qualities and identification techniques for meteorite identification that can be helpful for someone new to meteorite collecting:

Qualities of meteorites:

1. Fusion crust: Most meteorites have a thin, black fusion crust caused by high temperatures during entry into Earth's atmosphere. Depending on the age of the meteorite, this may or may not be present. Older meteorites that have been on Earth for a long period of time may be weathered and not have a fusion crust.
2. Thumbprinting: Some stony meteorites exhibit regmaglypts or thumbprints caused by ablation during entry. These “thumbprints” are noticeable and look like dents on the meteorite. Also, with thumbprints, most meteorites do not contain sharp edges or 90º angles. (Because of the process of ablation and forced ram-air pressure upon entry, meteorites will have smooth edges. Again ,meteorites that have been on Earth for a long time period or are weathered, will have rough edges due to the “frost” and “thaw” cycle on Earth.
3. Widmanstätten patterns: Certain iron meteorites reveal a unique crystalline structure when etched with acid. This will only happen if you cut the meteorite. Cutting allows one to see the inside of the meteorite and will not “devalue" the specimen. It will actually give you credit and confirm it as a meteorite.
4. Magnetic properties: Iron meteorites are often magnetic due to their high iron content. This is also true of terrestrial rock as well. This test alone is not worth the weight of the suspected meteorite. Not all meteorites are magnetic either. Carbonaceous Chondrites have no mental in them whatsoever.
5. Chondrules: Some stony meteorites contain round, grain-like structures called chondrules. Again, cutting an end and “seeing” what is inside will only help your case. Chondrules are the building blocks of Ordinary Chondrites, which are about 80-90% of the falls in the world. About 3-5% are Stony-iron, and 3-5% are Iron. These three categories make up the different lithologies within the meteorites.

Identification techniques:
1. Magnet test: Use a strong magnet to check for magnetic properties.
2. Visual inspection: Look for a black fusion crust, regmaglypts, or unusual surface features.
3. Density test: Compare the weight of the suspected meteorite to similar-sized terrestrial rocks.
4. Acid etching: Use acid to reveal the characteristic Widmanstätten patterns on iron meteorites.
5. Microscopic examination: Study the internal structure of the meteorite for chondrules or other unique features.

Remember, if you believe you have found a meteorite, it's beneficial to consult with experts or scientific institutions for further analysis and confirmation. Happy meteorite hunting!
