The last two that I purchased were 12.5 and 17.5mm Baader Planetarium Morpheus eyepieces, which I got last year through the Cloudy Nights Classifieds.  I like them quite a bit and would buy a couple more if I didn't already have Pentax XW and Tele Vue Delos eyepieces in the shorter focal lengths.

And how are you liking it so far?

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to use it much for any planets since the larger planets haven't been in the correct positions. It seems to work fine for lunar detail. If the weather ever clears up some night soon I should be able to view Saturn.

LATEST (probably not "last")

Purchased a year ago, 22 June 2023.

Astro-Tech 5.5 mm PF ("Premium Flat").

It really does show the circumference as nicely as it reveals the center.

Morpheus 4.5mm to compare against the Ethos-SX 4.7mm. I’ve enjoyed the other Morpheus and am considering completing the set but I can’t afford multiple wide angles at the same focal lengths.

An ES68 28mm back last time they were on sale for half price.

Wanted a small, lightweight 2 inch with a little smaller field stop and a little more exit pupil than the 20 Hyperwide.

It's pretty nice, aside from the eyecup being a bit squishy.

I tried a winged cup that works pretty well. Need to trim it just a bit for ventilation.

IMG_20231204_214106485~2.jpg

I'd really love to trade the 24 for a 24 Pan.

More recently, I've been tempted by the 20mm Marvel for about $150 to the door. It'd be easy to tell the green one from the red 14 LHD in the dark.

Luckily, Agena is out of the 1.85 eyecups that I used on the 14, so I've been able to resist.

I need to stay away from the eyepiece forums.

Televue 20mm Type II Nagler.
Not likely to re-sell it a second time!

The forum is a flame and readers are moths, in some cases.

I was also tempted, but the Marvel has a traditional undercut so that's a deal killer for me. Thank goodness. Otherwise I would have succumbed to the seduction of the forum, again! There is simply no way I need that eyepiece! Good to have a reason to reject it.

There's another that might bed me yet, but it's also green with an undercut... thinking1.gif

Meade SWA 5000 24mm has just enough eye relief for glasses, and being 1.25" fit, you can put it in a smooth sided 2" adaptor.

Green is best avoided though..

The last two I bought was around a year ago which were the APM 30mm UFF, and ES 68 24mm. Both were to upgrade my other eyepieces, the APM and ES 68 have been great eyepieces for sure. But they will probably not be my last purchases lol.

Sky Rover 24mm UFF. Pondered this one for a while. Wanted to get a 1.25" 24mm with good edge correction. Posted a thread here: (https://www.cloudyni...-ultimate-edge/). Have had it out only once with the 80mm f/7 SvBony 503. Was able to target the first quarter moon only. Build quality is nice, glass and coatings look good. If you check the aforementioned thread, seems it comes from the same source as some of the other UFF's at a bit nicer price. The jury is still out on performance under better sky conditions.

Ordered a Sky Rover 20mm XWA. Curious to see what the 100 deg field is like and if it suits me.

Celestron X-Cel LX 12mm new on 6/14. Bought it to go with the X-Cel LX 25mm, as these do a fine job on the 102mm refractor and they're somewhat parafocal.

Picked up a 2nd-hand 5mm Tele Vue Nagler T6 last weekend.

Obviously no chance to use it yet though, as I live in the UK.... crazy.gif

Baader Morpheus 6.5mm, used from Cloudy Nights classifieds about a month ago. I wanted to check our the vaunted Morpheus easy eye placement. It's for real! Now I'm looking to get the Morpheus 17mm, 12.5mm, 9mm, and 4.5mm, and compare to my Nagler and ES 82s. I'd give up a bit of field of view for more eye relief and less finicky placement.

More eye relief has a way of making a given AFOV on paper feel like a wider AFOV in practice.

Morpheus is within a few degrees of a Nagler on paper (talking actual measured AFOV values). I'm betting the more luxurious eye relief will make it feel as wide or wider than the Naglers and ES82s.

I just bought a Baader Hyperion 21 mm + the 14 and 28mm extension rings. I have set the Hyperion as 17.6 mm as it fills a gap in my setup but i will keep the flexibility to use it also as 21 and 32 mm for wide field views.
