Hello!

To owners of a Vixen R114M Newton with hinged tube rings (flat top, 1/4 inch thread at the bottom) -- as sold with a green Vixen GP years back:

Could someone kindly measure the exact diameter of the tube rings (and/or, the exact diameter of the R114M tube)? I found different numbers online (140mm, 144mm, 150mm), and find it difficult to confirm which one is correct. Unfortunately I have neither access to the tube rings nor the tube myself to do this measurement.

The reason I am asking is as I want to see if these hinged Vixen tube rings might fit my old orange Celestron C5. (I read that most 4.5 inch Newton tube rings do fit, but the Orion ones I tried recently are a very tight (and I think too tight!) match.)

Thanks!

ngc

All the Vixen R114M's I've seen have a 140mm tube.

Thanks a lot Astrojensen! Too bad though, 140mm tube rings will be just a bit too tight for my C-5.
