The search for a field tripod.

Using the Meade 2040 as a tabletop Alt Az wasn’t cutting it for my Star hopping deep dives. Searching for a tripod came up with this deal on Craigslist: $50 for everything except the C90 OTA.

The Wedge Equatorial Mount for the job was just missing a Meade-Celestron adapter plate.
So I fashioned one out of Walnut.

Under the light of the big moon I turned this + 40 year old mix and match telescope towards M11, IC 4665, Struve 1694 and the splitting of Polaris A & B.

New Life for old scopes!

Nice! Also known as 32 Camelopardalis, very close (6 degrees) to the pole - 7 from Polaris.

Thanks

It is an easy double to find under dark skies. I have always made use of 32 Cam as my Guide Star for the Lemon Slice Nebula IC 3568.
