Never had a bad Meade scope out of over 150 or more other than the 7" ED.

interesting. I had a bunch of Meade SCT's all were soft and you had back luck with Celestron  SCT's and all I had was good Celestron SCT's.  Does that average out to 50% of both makes were bad.

I can't count the 3 bad 2045's as Mizar made them. It has  been mixed bag. My all time worst SCT's were from Celestron and my all time best were from Celestron.  Meade SCT's pre 1991 were never that great or that bad. Then i had a run of very good LX200's in the later 90's with 7 that were very good and one soft 12" LX200. Meade was on the ball in the late 90's with the SCT optics. All Celestron stuff from Vixen was all super good but Celestron did not make them. Not sure who made the Comet catcher as mine was coma and mush city.   If you really think about it Meade or Celestron never really made much of what they sold.  Vixen was always super good out of more than 30 i have had and the Meade Blue tube stuff in the mid 80's was also very good other than the under mounted 6 and 8" Newts.   No matter what all brands and types of scopes vary. Once we get into the pricey stuff they vary less but once in a while a bad one can slip out.

I find it odd that after Orion shut down, there were absolutely no announcements from the owners, and no chatter from any of the former employees.  Not a word. Total silence.  I'm guessing that any severance benefits were contingent on silence and no public discussions.  Everyone swore an oath to secrecy?

Were lucky in one sense, that technology seems to have been a bigger factor in the improvement of SCT consistency (though the jury may still be out) than the endless quest for cost-cutting that many companies seem to always be on.

Same as OPT.  But a bankruptcy declaration would be available from somewhere.

Well, come 13 December, it’s all up for grabs! In part or all, all three entities involved:

I'm just extremely happy that Questar is not the 4th entity!  I know, a horse of a different color regarding Questar.

I guess someone could really buy a lot of junk in the trunk for a good price slice.  I sure don't have the room for it all.
