I have an issue with PHD2 in NINA not automatically starting to guide when starting an imaging session.

The imaging session becomes active however it will start capturing the images with guiding not active- PHD2 loads on initial startup but it never auto selects a guide star or begins to guide. If I start exposing PHD2 manually and then manually select a guide star it works as expected. However this is not ideal as it worked as expected sometime back so I suspect that something has become unconfigured like a check box or some other problem. Any clues as to how to resolve this issue and what to check?- I did think that the PHD2 server setting was turned off but this is not the case- it seems that NINA is not correctly integrating with PHD2 or vice versa.

I don't know whether a complete reinstall might be the way forward however my relectance is that sometimes this might not fix the issue and sometimes make an issue worse.

Please let me know your thoughts.

Are you using the Sequencer in NINA, or just starting a session from within the Imaging tab?
I only use the Advanced Sequencer and there is an instruction/action to start guiding. By including this instruction in the appropriate place in your run, you can be assured that guiding will start before imaging does (unless the guiding encounters an issue that is outside of the tolerances you set - guide star quality, Settle etc etc).
I assume the same instruction is available in the base Sequencer interface, but I haven’t tried using that.

Hope this helps 😊

I use mostly simple sequencer and it too can start PHD guiding.

Have you set a profile in PHD?

And PHD settings in NINA (page 19):

Thank you for this. I did a review of the settings and found under the sequence options in the imaging tab that the start guiding option was off. I've enabled this to on. I don't know why it turned itself off- perhaps "finger trouble" on my part. I think this will sort the issue.

I've not explored the advanced sequencer options yet.

Clear skies to you and all.....now to play with tilt on my RASA!frown.gif
