Hello all

I am happy to report that I was able to get my hands on a RVM-C housing and that everything works as expected.

The only issue I do have is that my NiteMate Nav 3 lens is not able to screw into the housing, but I expect this is because of tolerance stacking as I have been able to use it on other C-Mount housings.

This is not a problem for me though as I also have an ENVIS lens and have no issues with that lens threading in.

The Cosmicar 75mm Lens is also able to be threaded onto the housing with only the tiniest amount of scraping on the battery cap nub during the last 1/8th of being fully seated. This is also a non-issue as ABNV has provided a battery cap with no nub!

The housing feels good in the hand, much smaller than a PVS14 (and lighter!), which will be nice for "Grab & Go" operation. The all metal housing should be nice in winter for keeping the tube temperature and thus EBI low

If anyone has questions or would like any specific measurements to make sure their equipment will have clearance feel free to ask and I will be happy to get those numbers for you

Great to hear about this new product! I noticed the FOV mentions 40deg +2 as opposed to the Mod3 which just mentions 40deg if I’m going off of TNVC’s website. Do you notice any difference between your PVS-14 and this unit? The only thing I can think of is the +2 might be for using the RPO 3.0 lens, but I can’t think of how a 1x lens would change the FOV when all lens used with a Mod3 or PVS-14 are restricted to 40degrees. In any case, did you get the RPO 3.0 lens? If so, how does it compare to the PVS-14 lens? I noticed the RPO 3.0 lens increases the cost by $400.

You mentioned yours is cmount but i couldn’t mention of that on TNVC. Is TNVC where you got it from or did you use a different vendor that carries a c-mount option? I’m guessing the objective lens threads are nearly identical to a PVS-14/Mod3 and there isn’t a separate c mount version. Doesn’t look like it has the issue of the gain knob sticking out too far and restricting it from working with certain adapters/lens like the Mod3 has.

I haven't noticed a difference in FOV but I can compare my two devices head to head this week to be sure. If I had to guess it could be because the common lens now sold for use with C-Mount NVD's is the Computar V2513 which should give a FOV just a hair under 40 degrees.

I do not have the RPO eyepiece lens, just a regular Milspec eyepiece

You mentioned yours is cmount but i couldn’t mention of that on TNVC. Is TNVC where you got it from..

I did not order it through TNVC. To buy the housing you should be able to contact any Dealer that has the regular RVM-14 and have them order the RVM-C housing for you through ABNV. It should be a similar process to get one fully built new from any of the vendors out there as well, or to have a vendor swap your Tube to a RVM-C housing if that is desired (but then you start the challenge of trying to find an ENVIS lens if desired as the PVS14 objective lens will no longer be of any use to a C-Mount housing)

I have built up a few PVS14's before so I just ordered the housing and swapped my good Elbit tube into it (36 SNR, 76 Res, 0.85 EBI, 2668 PCR)

Doesn’t look like it has the issue of the gain knob sticking out too far

The gain knob is actually built in to the power switch, by the Eyepiece. When you click it on its at full gain then you can keep turning the knob to lower the gain. The potentiometer on the gain knob is very smooth with no obvious "steps" in the gain level which is nice for dialing in the views
