That 18" cost way more than a 20" Obsession near me.  If the 20 would fit thru my doe i would have jumped.

6" Astro-Physics APO Refractor.

$3200 is good price for an AP 6" APO with a mount -- not much more than the original cost in1988. The f8 was post-NASA glass, but still with the quality of a Christens lens. It has the original focuser, which is adequate but not at today's standard of smoothness -- I replaced mine with a modern one, and it is a joy to use. The 706 mount is sturdy but no-frills. No setting circles, slow-motion in DEC only (tangent arm), AC drive. Mine is a bit sensitive to balance, but when carefully set up it tracks well and has minimal vibrations.

Great opportunity for someone who wants to experience vintage AP quality without spending a fortune.

Chip W.

That Meade 8in lx10 sold on sgw tonight. Final price was $356. Shipped. I didn’t buy it and I don’t think that’s a good deal.

Nice looking Goto scope. https://losangeles.c...7757987593.html Might have been posted before. I had a small Tasco years ago that gave great images for its size, of course if you are sensitive to CA the this isn’t the scope for you. Personally I think it would make a great dedicated solar scope.

It's the same OTA only painted gray and marketed as a RFT.

Only a few have popped up, so probably sold this way for a shorter time.

Well this one's a mystery dobby to me:

Anyone recognize this logo?

Well I hope you got it instead of some flip flopper because the ad has already been deleted. Tall and slim or shorter and heavy set?

So, a $40 Vixen 80mm grab 'n' go? Sounds like a deal to me.

"Another" Celestron / Vixen C4.5 for sale in Kingston, ON for CAD $140.00, including a Vixen Polaris mount. I quoted "Another" because this might be the same scope I posted a couple of weeks ago (and missed out on by a number of hours) as for sale for $40 in Ottawa. The seller frequently posts scopes for sale on Kijiji, and his description of the C4.5 as a bit crusty and dented matches the one that was for sale here.

https://www.kijiji.c...ount/1699421027

I'm not knocking the seller, in fact I bought my Meade 310 from him last year. He asks fair prices for his equipment, and probably, like me, recognised the scope for the bargain it was.

I have seen a few of these 6344’s come up for sale. I have one. It has to be one of the best values in a classic telescope. Excellent build exceptional optics. If it said Vixen or Unitron it would sell for 4x that amount. I realize the mount is not a Unitron or Polaris, but it’s very nice.

Nope. I saw this early this morning for the first time. I would say tall & heavy set (10"-12" sonotube). I wish I'd grabbed a screeny of the whole scope before the ad got deleted. There was only one pic...

Did you say RKE? I got lucky a year ago and scored this complete set of the Edmund RKE eyepieces plus the barlow in a foam fitted case. Came with the original invoice from Edmund dated 2002.

attachicon.gif RKE.jpg

Complete set if it were available today would run more than $500.  Which isn't too bad.
