Anybody near Northville, MI?

University Optics 76/910 on Hibid. Looks pretty interesting. Unfortunately for me, no shipping.

You do. I have seen listing from Canada.

You're right! https://www.goodwill...ca/shop-online/

Had a look at online auctions. The link on the Goodwill Canada site takes you to the U.S. auctions page. The dropdown location list only shows U.S.locations, no way to filter for just Canada that I can see..

Pretty sure that nearly all of the U.S. auctions will ship to Canada.

rare Tak TS90 fluorite triplet OTA, believe it’s their first fluorite telescope, modded with a sliding dew shield and a new focuser.

Interesting...

- Uncommon:  University Optics 76/910 - KENKO, but same source as the APL (Vixen?) or ASTRO versions??

- RARE!   Tak TS-90F / 1000 Triplet - 1978??  Am I reading the label correctly?  Yes, I am - introduced in 1977...

Man!  I step away for 5 minutes, and these pop up!

I totally regret the previous rant (which has been deleted) regarding the Meade 16" and Paramount ME mount. After speaking with him on the phone and getting an even better deal than one I could not refuse, I basically clean him out on a complete observatory setup. Already got it home.

Excellent name. I will use it in honor of Dan Blocker who died when I was a teenager and left me grieving.

Many years ago, a local stable had a horse named Cat, so that brings it full circle.

No way i would get it plus not ever buying anything over sea's. If it was the old gray NJP-160 mount i could change my mind or just fly over,

IF we could afford to fly over we would already be there with no intention of returning!

Understatement of the day!! The pier is more than 200lbs, the OTA with fork arms are NOT movable by a single person- let alone getting it all at shoulder height to go on top of the equatorial pier.

This is an engineering challenge. I think a harbor freight cherry picker will be a start, but that can’t happen until the pier is secure. Then, what do I do with it when it’s all set up? It’s got to live in something.

Thus shall be born the Slippery Slope Observatory!

Lift table and engine hoist (cherry picker), both from Harbor Freight, would be all you need for just about any practical sized amateur telescope and mount.

Way to go!!!  good for you bow.gif. . . . . And it's amazing how quickly a big scope and mount can fill up a truck bed and trailer!  I bought a 14" LX600 from a nice guy in Wisconsin last winter-original box!  It filled up my truck bed with little room to spare.

I often wonder if God can make bad optics good (if I prayed), or does He determine that only when the optics are made?

In other words, some of them have grace :)
