Finally today I found the time to photograph the Sun.
Between work, commitments, vacations and weather, I haven't pointed the telescope at the Sun since June 22nd...

The shooting session was very fast, in an hour I assembled, photographed and disassembled the telescope. The camera reached a temperature of 47°C. Maybe next time it would be better if I also assemble the screen to shade it.

UT 13:26
Lunt 60mm TH-alpha telescope
DS Coronado Solarmax II 60mm
Daystar Combo Quark chromosphere
GSO 0.5 reducer
ZWO ASI178mm camera

Autostakkert3, AstroSurface and Solarfinish processing

60 sec movie at 11fps

What was your gain setting at for this triple stack? It must have been very high with the 11fps that you are getting. It looks very nice by the way, almost reminds of those SHG HA images that the TheSmiths put out in these forums.

Do you think that 91 ms exposures could be reduced by increasing the gain? Or by decreasing the capture area?  Would that increase the resolution?

I suppose that triple stacking would decrease the intensity of the light reaching the camera, therefore increasing the need for longer exposure subs.

Did you stack all photos or only a percentage from the best subs?

Hi,

I try not to increase the gain too much because otherwise it increases the noise in the image a lot.

I prefer a cleaner image even if the fps are low. When I record I reduce the ROI to 1560x1560 pixels, but I noticed that this does not increase the fps much...

Unfortunately the brightness of the image is not much.

With Autostakkert for the sum of the images I use at most the best 50, or even less. I noticed that a few good images are enough for a good result.
