My LX200 Classic wedge adjustment seems to only work when I turn the adjustment knob clockwise, lowering the angle of the tilt plate. If I turn the adjustment knob counterclockwise to increase the angle of the tilt plate, nothing happens. The threaded adjustment knob threads out of the upper bar. I've spent hours changing the position of the nuts and washers, adding additional nuts and washers to no avail. Does anyone know the proper configuration of these nuts and washers on the threaded rod to get the desired result? I've looked on YouTube and the literature on the internet and nothing out there on this particular model. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Which wedge are you using? A picture would help.
If you are using one of the wedges that has an altitude rod, turning it clockwise should raise the bottom edge of the central plate and CCW should lower the bottom edge. You may be running into an issue of binding if the plate isn't moving. With the telescope removed you should be able to see the plate move up and down easily. Check the side locking knobs/screws which hold the bottom of the plate to the sides, those should not be locked down until you have the altitude properly adjusted. The plate pivots on the upper supports going into the sides, make sure those upper supports pivot.

It's the original wedge that came with the LX200 Classic back in '98 or so. Yes, I had the two allen slot screws at the top of the tilt plate loosen. I've got it working now by adding a couple of lock washers, flat washers, and nuts to both sides of the top bar on the threaded rod. I added two nuts and two washers on the inside of the threaded rod tightening down on the inside bottom bar and two flat washers on the threaded rod on the outside of the bottom bar, between the bar and the adjustment nut. Not sure if all of this hardware is needed( it certainly didn't come with all of this stuff 25 years ago) but it seems to be working.

For the "standard" wedge, the side bolts are too tight. The weight of the scope (gravity) should pull the tilt plate when you turn the adjusting bolt CCW.. Once adjusted, tighten the side screws.

You can also replace the bolts with tooless star knob studs. It makes everything a lot better when you can remove the tools, especially when different ones require different size allens.
