Hi All

Like most desirable items in life sometimes it’s true value is only worth what one is willing to pay for it.However like most of us already know that anything that has a takahashi brand name written on it you expect to pay an arm and a leg for.there seems to be very little information online “apart from CN” about the takahashi twin view bino-viewers and to my best understanding there was only one production run with these particular accessories from takahashi back in 1996.The true reason why i have reached out to you guys is I’m stuck on a preowned market value as a individual has approached me who wishes to sell.

I have been active on ABS “Ukastrobuyandsell” for approximately 8 years now and personally never seen another pair come available for sale so I’m guessing must be quite rare!.

So any ideas what I could sell them for and did they originally come with a glass path correcter.

These look very like standard microscope heads from around the 90's. Let's start by checking off a couple of important points -

1. Do they accept 1.25" eyepieces?

2. What is the clear aperture?

3. What is their optical path length?

4. Are they well collimated?

5. Are the optics scratch and dust free?

6. What is their IPD range? (Will that work for you?)

7. Do they allow for left/right accommodation?

On pricing -

First off - I don't think the Takahashi label is going to make any difference to their selling price ... and I own two Tak scopes.

I've seen Denkmeier II's offered for $450-$500 several times. These have 27 mm clear aperture and are easy to clean & collimate. Their optical path length with a prism diagonal is about 160 mm.

A collector may be willing to pay a premium; otherwise they're just a modified microscope head that presents the view from a scope at an uncomfortable angle. One possible exception - the 45 degree prism may make it more interesting to birders or cliff dwellers.

Guessing that they are 22 mm clear aperture and everything else is good, you might consider offering the equivalent of $250. Honestly though, you'd probably be better served saving for MaxBright II's.

Corrector - no idea, sorry. A 2" Barlow or extender works fine so that's neither here nor there.

edit - I found this in the old Swap Shop ads ..

Many years ago, when I owned a FS-128, I had a set.  Used 1.25 inch eyepieces.  I didn't like that I had to refocus when I changed IPD. So I let them go.  They were around $400 back then.  No idea today.
