I have had this nice classic Carton 60mm refractor for a couple of years now but it’s always been a little finicky in terms of astigmatism so I’ve been contemplating a lens swap for some time. A Takahashi 60mm f6 fluorite doublet came up for sale recently on Zenmarket so I picked it up for 200 which I thought was a pretty good deal. It was pristine and came with a tube and dew shield in addition to the lens and cell. I removed the Carton lens and managed, with some packing material, to “press fit” the Takahashi tube around the Carton tube to combine the 2 scopes into one with nice mechanics of the Carton + exquisite optics of the Tak. Daylight tests look very good so I’ll try for a star test tonight. A new Tak scope with this same objective sells for about 1K I think.
