This was a good weekend for shooting for me.  Weather was seemingly turning into fall and had a slight chill to it.  I spent some time cleaning off my scopes, barlows, and sensors to get the images.  Below are a few from the set.  :)

Superbe!

A few questions:

1- The images seem a bit on the dark side but my inexperience might be showing here

2- I’m really curious as to the setup you have to get these beautiful close up shots

Yeah, terrific shots Larry!  Was this with the SCT?  I can't recall your setup.

Thanks guys.  I've been shooting for about 30 years now and recently did a lot of tune in my filters over the past couple weeks using both a spectrum lamp and good old fashion multi shot comparison.  My setup consists of both Lunt filters and Coronado filters.  I usually use a Lunt 230 refractor for the close ups and a Coronado filters/scopes for the full disks or medium close ups.  I also use a Celestron Omni barlow, TV 2.5x Powermate, or Takahashi 2x Barlow (I just got this and its built odd but works good).  I usually shoot from 1.5 to 2tb a day, per laptop, when its clear and I'm not working.  Most of my stuff comes from the CN classifieds or Astromart classifieds.  I usually pick up old stuff that I find cheap and recondition it.   You'd be surprised at what you can get if you keep a close eye on what pops up.  You have to watch out for scams though as I've seen a few pop up lately on Astromart.  I use mostly Imaging Source cameras but have a couple QHY sensors as well.  I've been warming up to QHY's 8mp mono sensor.  It's kind of a touch nut to crack and doesn't have a large range to play with but does really good on speed and area for me.  The scope was shooting a really deep <0.5 ang so the features have a lot of contrast to them and there were a lot of bright hot spots and flaring going on this weekend that kept blooming the location if I turned up the gain too much.  I ended up catching a flare in action and am working on that video now.  I do have a large ERF and could use my 250 mewlon but have yet to find the right rear filter at the right price.  :)
