Thanks for the reply. Why do u say my DS Ha filter isn’t much help? My understanding is that I need to do Ha for flares/photosphere. I’m thinking to add a 3x Barlow in the image train and ditch the white light filter. What’s your rationale for the lack of utility with my current Ha? Granted it’s a 7nm “wide-spectrum” but I don’t see that as hurting the images.
Quick safety note, DO NOT ditch the white light filter without using another appropriate solar filter designed for solar use, and your application. Without proper filtering the suns light will destroy your equipment or eye.
You’ll need a dedicated and purpose designed h-alpha solar filter for the details you’re after, such as the daystar quark. There are other options too, but again, make sure it’s designed specifically for what you’re doing, don’t try to wing it.
