Hi Fellow SkyWatchers -

 

I just received a new WiFi dongle for an Atlas EQ-G but can't get any activity while trying to use it - no LEDs, no SSID broadcast, *nothing*...

 

Of course, I've checked to ensure that the connectors seat properly in the hand controller and dongle, and I can do a continuity test at some point, but that won't solve my issue if the supplied cable hasn't been wired correctly.

 

So, can anyone either completely describe how such a cable should be made up or, better yet, supply a picture or two of a cable/connector ends known to work properly? I have the means to make up a new cable should it come to that.

Hi,

 

Ditch the HC and connect the WiFi dongle direct to the mount. Make sure that the mount is powered first. That should work.

Correct, the dongle was made to replace the HC, not attach to it.  It lets you control the entire mount from a smartphone.  Plug it in before you turn the mount on and be sure the mount gives a solid power light.
