Hi,

What do you think of pairing ASI2600MC DUO with RASA 8? My concern is that guide stars will be distorted, because the smaller chip is too far away from the center of the field.

Anybody tried this combination?

Thank you!

The guide FPA is off axis in the short direction.   I am not sure the pixels are much more off axis than the corner of the main array.    If you draw a circle passing though the corners of the main array I think it will encompass most of the guide array.

More specifically, both arrays lie within a 44mm diameter circle.

I think if your RASA can really handle a full APS-C format you should be okay.

But if it can't then the corners of your image will be distorted too.

I think if stars are distorted the tracker will probably still track.

I haven't tried it.

It works well.  I used this combination last week with ASIAir and multistar guiding.  I was initially concerned but the image circle is enough to illuminate at least 2/3rds the guide chip with the M42 opening of the Starizona filter adaptor I have.
