I currently have a Lunt 50mm with Helical focuser along with a ASI174MM camera, I've been trying a while to get the Celestron x-cel lx 2x Barlow to work with it. If anyone knows a way how to incorporate the barlow into the imaging train it would be very helpful. I currently screw in the camera to the blocking filter to achieve focus. Using a barlow I am not able to get focus. I did see many posts about the televue Powermate 2.5x coupled with an adapter that works, I am curious would the Celestron x-cel barlow work on this setup.

Thanks

Your Barlow is a "standard" Barlow.  In such a Barlow the focal point changes with distance from the Barlow element. The eyepiece holder on it is set to be 2x for an eyepiece.

With a Telecentric Barlow (also known as a TeleXtender), such as the PowerMate, the focal point stays essentially the same. Also with the PowerMate, you are not using the eyepiece holder which adds to the distance.  Yes, you need to purchase the T-Thread adapter separately for the PowerMate to use the element only for imaging.

I'm no expert, but I use a Celestron x-cel LX 2x barlow with my Lunt 60 (with a standard non-helical focuser), and it achieves focus with plenty of room to spare. I use a 533mm pro with the 1.25" nose piece that comes with the camera and I've never had an issue with focus.

You say you screw in the camera into the blocking filter, where do you put the camera into the barlow? With a "normal" 1.25" nose?

Yours is a completely different scope, focal length and all.  The LS40THa (I own) and LS50 with the helical focuser have very limited focusing travel even with the optional Feathertouch focuser.

Not sure if I ever used 2x barlow with my Lunt 50.
But I sure can focus when I use just the lens piece of barlow, meaning 1.5x barlow.
