I'm not sure the data is going to warrant doing many derotations.  I put together a quick animation of all 95 frames as a way of finding better spots that might deserve more attention.  There are some spots towards the end of the animation I think.  Each frame is a 25% stack of a 10,000 frame SER.

One more 7-image derotation from almost the end of the data set.

Those are some nice derotation results. Wait til Jupiter gets closer to the meridian at a decent elevation!

Agreed plus (although I've not calculated exactly) we must still have 25% increase in angular size still to come during this apparition.  I'm a bit concerned my DOB is going to struggle tracking at 80 degrees but I'll take those kind of problems.

Can you see the ghosting of the sunlit limb on those derotations on your monitor?  It's coming from the de-rind tool.  Worse on Mars data.  This is the first time I'm seeing it on Jupiter data.  Cor couldn't see it on his monitor.  I'm wondering if it's just the calibration of my 1080p monitor.  But if it shows up in the monitor it's real and we need to figure out how to suppress it.  It's in the portion of threshold NOT affecting the rind (beyond the width parameter).

I can see it, but it's subtle.

Cor figured out what was causing it today.  Took a good part of the morning but it shouldn't bother us again.

It's hilarious that you started with "I'm not sure the data is going to warrant . . . " and then posted the stunning images in the next two replies. lol.gif

Yes but you always have to remember my going in position is twofold:  1)  That I don't really know what I'm doing and as a result, 2) My images look like crap!!!  I'm getting better but they will never be all that good.  Note:  Keep a look out for the 9-18-24 GRS that I'm about to upload.

You should stop being so down on yourself. You own one of the largest instruments that frequently posts in the forum, and it shows.

Yes but always remember it's not the size, it's what you do with it that matters.
